De PlayStation 4 is niet de enige nieuwe console op komst. Microsoft komt ook met een nieuwe console, namelijk de Xbox One. Reeds is bekendgemaakt dat deze begin volgend jaar pas in Nederland beschikbaar zal zijn.
De Xbox One verschijnt in verschillende andere landern nog dit jaar. Hierbij zijn ook een aantal games, 23 om precies te zijn, beschikbaar later dit jaar. Volgens corporate vice president van Microsoft Phil Harrison zijn dit de beste lanceertitels aller tijden. De lijst die voor de Xbox One beschikbaar zullen zijn als lanceertitels zijn:
